Marivaux et la vie théâtrale de 1730 à 1737

Résumé

La méconnaissance du théâtre de Marivaux entre 1730 et 1737 pose le problème de la relation entre ce corpus abondant et le contexte originel de sa production/réception. Le théâtre marivaudien se distingue du théâtre classique en ce qu'il met en valeur le jeu de rôles et l'autoreprésentation. Il sera relégué à des scènes non officielles - où il prospérera - pour avoir voulu trop tôt, avant Diderot et son Paradoxe , entreprendre une première description et systématisation de l'art de feindre.

Abstract

The underestimation of Marivaux' theatre from 1730 to 1737 raises issues such as the connection between its relative volume and the context in which it was first produced and received. It stands apart from classical theatre by virtue of a highlighting of role-playing and self-representation. It will be relegated to private stages-where it will flourish-for having attempted prematurely, prior to Diderot's Paradoxe, a notation and systematisation of the art of acting
