Résumé
Les intervenants de la santé sont appelés à se prononcer sur la sécurité des aînés vivant à domicile et ils ont, à cet effet, très peu d’outils francophones à leur disposition. Le Protocole d’évaluation de la sécurité à domicile (PESAD) est issu de la traduction et de la validation transculturelle du SAFER-HOME. Le processus de validation et l’étude de la fidélité des résultats ont mis en lumière un outil intéressant et possédant de bonnes qualités métrologiques. Il permet aux intervenants francophones d’obtenir des résultats d’évaluation complets et rigoureux relativement à la sécurité à domicile des aînés francophones.
Abstract
Health workers are called upon to give their opinion on the safety of elderly people living at home and they have very few French-language tools at their disposal. The Protocole d’évaluation de la sécurité à domicile (PESAD) is the result of a translation and cultural validation of SAFER-HOME. The validation process and testing of the reliability of the results suggest that PESAD is an interesting and high quality measurement tool. It enables Francophone health-care workers to obtain complete and accurate evaluation results about the home safety of elderly Francophones.

Notes biographiques
Michèle Hébert est professeure agrégée au programme d’ergothérapie de l’Université d’Ottawa. Ses recherches portent sur le bien-être et les environnements facilitant pour les aînés vivant des déficits cognitifs, d’une part, et, d’autre part, sur la pédagogie universitaire. Au cours des dernières années, elle a publié des résultats de recherche sur le portfolio professionnel étudiant universitaire dans diverses revues en sciences de l’éducation et sur la sécurité des aînés, incluant l’évaluation de leurs fonctions cognitives, dans des revues d’ergothérapie.
Anne Brasset-Latulippe détient un baccalauréat ès arts avec une spécialisation en psychologie de l’Université McGill, ainsi qu’un baccalauréat en ergothérapie de l’Université d’Ottawa. Elle termine présentement une maîtrise ès sciences, en systèmes de santé, avec diplôme en recherche sur les services et les politiques de santé à l’Université d’Ottawa. Elle est titulaire d’une bourse des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada. Son sujet de recherche porte sur la pratique interprofessionnelle et la continuité des soins dans le contexte de la santé mentale chez la femme.
Sylviane Bourgault-Côté détient un baccalauréat en sciences de l’agriculture avec une spécialisation en sciences végétales de l’Université Laval, ainsi qu’un baccalauréat en ergothérapie de l’Université d’Ottawa. Elle pratique présentement au Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Gatineau, en milieu hospitalier, avec une clientèle orthopédique et des personnes amputées. Elle s’intéresse toujours à la sécurité des adultes et des aînés.
Valérie Meilleur est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en ergothérapie de l’Université d’Ottawa. Elle est clinicienne et elle a travaillé au Centre de santé et de services sociaux d’Antoine-Labelle auprès d’adultes et de personnes âgées hospitalisés, en soins de longue durée et en réadaptation. Elle travaille maintenant auprès d’une clientèle pédiatrique et adulte au Centre de réadaptation en déficience physique Le Bouclier.
Teresa Chiu était gestionnaire du volet recherche et développement à COTA Health, organisme offrant des services privés de réadaptation à Toronto, et candidate au doctorat en sciences à l’Université de Toronto, au moment de la rédaction de cet article. Depuis, elle a quitté le Canada pour retourner dans sa ville natale, Hong Kong. Elle est professeure adjointe au Département des sciences de la réhabilitation de la Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
