Abstract
Athenian democracy is celebrated for isonomia (the equality of all before the law) and isegoria (the equality of all to speak publicly). What is the equality of all in the face of death? The Law of Nature say some. Is it for this that the city seems to question itself and what Nature has dictated? The city seems to want to refuse this Law of Nature and to decide in its place on a hierarchy of death.
