Abstract
In order to understand what effect youth between the ages of 13 and 23 years meant for their suicide to produce, their farewell letters were analysed in relationship to their life stories. Five types of effects were identified : positive effects for self ; positive effects produced by self or by others ; positive effects for others produced by self or by others ; negative effects for others. As an analysis complement, negative emotions and their link to the suicide and farewell letters were analysed. To conclude, the importance of knowing the young individual and how to discern their strengths and weaknesses is highlighted.
