Abstract
In keeping with the space-time conception which is specific to photography, this essay examines urbex (urban exploration) enthusiasts’ photographic production of urban ruins, following three lines: the still image; movement – of images as well as of explorers; and the interface. Studying this production illuminate photographic images’ role and action in the creation of on line communities of amateurs. Indeed, explorers act in an extended circulatory space, so to speak, the web and its images reflecting and unveiling the exact places that are explored, while creating other spaces devoted to exchange and discussion and, at the same time, places of memory (lieux de mémoire) and living archives.
