Abstract
Few end-of-life studies to date have focused on the transgender population, though some quantitative studies have highlighted less end-of-life planning among this group compared to other sexual minorities. Our review of qualitative research aimed to better understand this issue and, more broadly, to grasp the concerns regarding the end of life in the transgender population. The thirteen selected publications highlight transgender people’s concerns regarding the risk of disrespect and abuse from end-of-life workers, the possibility of isolation and lack of support from friends and relatives, the importance given to the present at the expense of end-of-life planning, and the fear of being denied their gender identity after death.
