Résumé
La Québécoite raconte l’étrangeté inhérente à l’expérience migrante en inscrivant la territorialité au centre de ce récit sur l’exil. Ici, l’exil a besoin du mouvement pour être dit, pour prendre son sens. Aussi Robin écrit-elle : « La parole immigrante est insituable, intenable. [...] Elle ne s’installe pas. Parole sans territoire et sans attache [...]. On ne peut pas l’accrocher. » Comment est-il donc possible de rendre compte de l’errance propre à l’expérience migrante? Puisque l’exilée est incapable d’unir ses deux identités inconciliables (celle d’avant l’exil et celle engendrée par l’exil), il est nécessaire pour cette dernière d’osciller entre ces identités, d’errer, pour ainsi dire, entre celles-ci. L’entre-deux, espace que parcourt la Québécoite dans un va-et-vient incessant, est le territoire créé par son éclatement identitaire, territoire qui prend la forme triple de la ville, du langage et de la mémoire.
Abstract
La Québécoite describes the inherent strangeness of the migrant experience by inscribing territoriality at the centre of this account of exile. Here, exile requires movement in order to be spoken, in order to take on its meaning. Robin therefore writes, "immigrant speech cannot be situated or grasped. [...] It does not settle down. Speech without territory and without attachment [...]. One cannot catch it." How is it then possible to account for the wandering which is specific to the migrant experience? Since the exile is unable to unite her two irreconcilable identities- the one before exile and the one engendered by exile-it is necessary for her to oscillate between these identities, to wander, so to speak, between them. The space between, the space which the Québécoite covers in an incessant coming-and-going, is the territory created by her exploding identity. This territory takes the triple form of city, language and memory.
