AB - In this paper, I offer a reflection on official language minority communities in Canada and on the concept of self-determination. From my own perspective, self-determination is to a people what individual freedom is to the person. In order to be self-determining, a people must be able to enjoy some kind of self-determination. The question then is how peoples forming minority language groups can minimally exercise their right to self-determination. During the course of this investigation, I also intend to raise some issues related to the situation of the other linguistic communities in Canada.
