Biographical notes
Dmitrii Sokolov has a Master of History in East European Studies and is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the Russian Academy of Sciences. His interests include the digitalization of science and culture, sociology of culture, the history of horror cinema, and analysis of European integration in science and technology. His publications have appeared in Iskusstvo kino, Idei i idealy, Upravlenie naukoi: teoriia i praktika, and various popular websites on cinema and culture.
Felix Helbing is a PhD candidate at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. He is currently finishing a dissertation on Soviet labor theorist Aleksei Gastev that examines the intersection of technology and the body as envisioned within Gastev’s utopia of mechanized collectivism. Felix’s additional research interests include the philosophical writings of Aleksandr Bogdanov, digital media—especially video games—and, more recently, industrialization and the body in Tolstoy’s late work.
