Comment capturer le patrimoine culturel immatériel : réflexions autour de la patrimonialisation de la fauconnerie How to capture intangible cultural heritage: Reflections on incorporating falconry into our heritage

Résumé

Cet article aborde la patrimonialisation d’un item protégé par la « Convention pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel immatériel de l’humanité » de l’UNESCO depuis 2010 : « La fauconnerie, un patrimoine humain vivant ». Suivant une brève description de la fauconnerie, au moyen de laquelle est notée son essence immatérielle, l’auteur poursuit l’analyse du processus conduisant à son intégration dans la sphère du patrimoine mondial. Ce faisant, il semble que la réussite d’un tel projet demeure compromise en raison de difficultés que présente sa médiatisation dans l’espace public. Cette investigation débouche alors sur l’identification de trois enjeux sémiotiques sous-jacents à ces problèmes et espère, par là, mener une réflexion dans le domaine de la muséologie désireuse d’accueillir l’immatériel au rang de ses principales préoccupations de recherche.

Abstract

This article deals with the patrimonialization of an item protected by UNESCO’s Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2010: “Falconry, a living human heritage.” After a brief description of falconry, by means of which its intangible essence is noted, the author continues to analyze the process which integrates it into the sphere of world heritage. This seems to indicate that such a project’s success remains compromised by the difficulties of mediatizing it in the public space. This investigation leads then to the identification of three semiotic issues underlying these problems and hopes thus to lead to a reflection in the sphere of museology, with the goal of placing the intangible on the level of its principal research concerns.
