Abstract
By resorting to a non-essentialist conception of the political and by defining the latter as the unveiling of the contingent character of what appears to be real, objective, or ineluctable, this text aims at identifying the political value of social imaginaries. We shall do so by showing how reality effects are created by clashes between contradictory imaginaries, tending to dislocate the symbolic order or the political language that appears like “objectivity” in a given time and space, as well as suturing the gap generated by this dislocation or representation crisis.
