Cet article trace le portrait de Francine Brunel-Reeves, une chercheuse indépendante au parcours exceptionnel. Il présente, en premier lieu, une courte biographie de celle qui aura partagé sa vie entre les États-Unis, la France et le Québec et qui a embrassé pleinement les métiers d’artiste, de formatrice, de praticienne et de chercheuse libre. En deuxième partie, il examine plus en détail l’état de sa production et les approches théoriques qui ont délimité ses recherches, tant dans le domaine de l’ethnologie que de l’anthropologie, la musicologie et la mythologie.

Abstract

This article offers a portrait of Francine Brunel-Reeves, an independent researcher who has followed an exceptional course throughout her active life. It begins with a short biography of this artist, perfomer, educator and independant researcher who has split her life between France, Québec and the United States of America. The second section describes the current state of her work and the theoretical approaches that have delineated her research not only in the field of ethnology, but also in anthropology, musicology and mythology.
