Cet article présente les principaux résultats d’une recherche analysant les impacts du recours aux procédés humoristiques sur la consolidation de l’identité franco-ontarienne chez les personnes adolescentes en Ontario. En plus de mettre en lumière les fonctions que peut occuper l’humour dans un contexte pédagogique, cette étude souligne également ses effets perçus et ressentis sur la confiance en soi chez les jeunes. On comprend ainsi que le croisement de plusieurs facteurs, notamment la concrétisation d’un projet de consolidation du français en Ontario et le dévouement d’actrices et d’acteurs du milieu social et culturel, engendre des impacts qui dépassent les intentions initiales.

This article presents the main results of a research analyzing the impact of the use of humor on the consolidation of Franco-Ontarian identity among adolescents in Ontario. In addition to highlighting the functions that humor can play in a pedagogical context, this study also highlights its perceived and felt effects on the self-confidence of young people. We can thus understand that the intersection of several factors, notably the realization of a project to consolidate French in Ontario and the dedication of actors in the social and cultural milieu, generates impacts that go beyond the initial intentions.

Les recherches sur les parents d’enfants trans et non binaires (TNB) sont rares et présentent souvent l’expérience de parents habitant en zones urbaines.  L’expérience des personnes demeurant en région est encore peu connue.  Cette recherche action sociale s’intéresse à l’expérience des parents d’enfants TNB vivant dans les régions du Bas-Saint-Laurent, de la Gaspésie et des Îles-de-la-Madeleine et examine leurs besoins, défis et enjeux. Les résultats montrent que ces parents vivent des expériences similaires aux autres parents d’enfants TNB, mais aussi des défis spécifiques au milieu rural. Une discussion sur le développement des services en région conclut l’article.

Research on parents of trans and non-binary (TNB) children is still scarce and generally involves urban samples.  Little is known about the experiences of parents of TNB children living in the regions. This social action research project focuses on the experience of parents of TNB children living in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and Îles-de-la-Madeleine regions and examines their specific needs, challenges and issues. The results show that these parents have similar experiences to other parents of NBD children, but also face challenges specific to the rural environment. A discussion on the development of services in the regions concludes the article.

Alors que plusieurs recherches soulignent l’intérêt d’intervenir auprès du réseau des femmes victimes de violence conjugale dans l’optique d’assurer leur sécurité à long terme, peu d’outils ont été développés et diffusés, et à notre connaissance, aucun n’a fait l’objet d’une évaluation. Le projet Entourage, une recherche-action participative réalisée en partenariat avec l’Alliance MH2, visait à combler ces limites, en cherchant à développer, à implanter et à évaluer un outil d’intervention centré sur le réseau social des femmes victimes de violence conjugale. Cet article vise à dévoiler les principaux résultats du processus participatif adopté dans le projet Entourage, incluant une présentation de l’outil développé et une analyse de son implantation et de ses effets à court terme. La phase d’implantation a permis de documenter une utilisation de l’outil Entourage en fonction des besoins des femmes, de même qu’une appréciation générale de l’outil.

Several studies have highlighted the importance of network-based interventions for women who are victims of domestic violence to enhance their long-term safety. However, there is a lack of developed, implemented, and evaluated tools in this area. The Entourage project, a participatory action-research conducted in partnership with the MH2 Alliance, aimed to address this gap by creating, implementing, and evaluating an intervention tool that focuses on the social network of domestic violence victims. This article presents key findings from the participatory process, including an introduction to the tool and an analysis of its implementation and short-term effects. We explore how the Entourage tool was used to address the specific needs of women and its overall impact on empowering women and fostering reflection.

Cet article s’intéresse au linguicisme, c’est-à-dire aux effets stigmatisants et discriminants de la langue française et des accents sur les personnes immigrantes et racisées dans la sphère du travail en contexte francophone minoritaire à Ottawa. À partir d’entretiens semi-dirigés, cette recherche révèle que le français est une source de discrimination dans l’accès à l’emploi en contexte anglophone majoritaire à Ottawa. Ensuite, l’accent est un attribut stigmatisant et discriminant à l’intérieur même de la communauté francophone, tantôt à titre de marqueur de la race, tantôt pour renvoyer à la condition immigrante. Enfin, quand les personnes francophones immigrantes et racisées viennent à adopter l’accent et les expressions du groupe dominant, elles peuvent se sentir dénigrées par la communauté culturelle à laquelle elles s’identifient ou sont identifiées. L’article documente également les diverses tactiques adoptées par les personnes immigrantes et racisées afin de faire face au linguicisme.

This article explores linguicism, that is, the stigmatizing and discriminatory effects of the French language and accents on immigrant and racialized individuals in the workplace, within the minority Francophone context of Ottawa. Based on semi-structured interviews, the study reveals that French can be a source of discrimination in accessing employment in Ottawa’s predominantly Anglophone environment. Furthermore, accents serve as stigmatizing and discriminatory markers even within the Francophone community itself, sometimes acting as indicators of race, and other times pointing to immigrant status. Finally, when immigrant and racialized Francophone individuals adopt the accent and expressions of the dominant group, they may feel disparaged by the cultural community with which they identify or are identified. The article also documents the various strategies adopted by immigrant and racialized individuals to cope with linguicism.
