L’arrangement intonatif dans les syntagmes verbaux en français parlé à Montréal : une étude phonosyntaxique

Résumé

Quatre-vingt-quinze énoncés de la conversation en français parlé à Montréal ont servi à l’analyse de la démarcation de la phrase en syntagmes intonatifs.

Dans cet article, nous montrons que, dans cette variété dialectale, la démarcation en syntagmes intonatifs coïncident avec une projection syntaxique maximale SI, SV, SN, SP et que la borne significative du syntagme intonatif est à droite du constituant syntaxique. Toutefois, il est aussi possible de trouver des projections non maximales qui correspondent à un syntagme intonatif.

Pour chaque énoncé, nous avons fait une analyse des variations de la Fo de façon à inférer la séquence tonale sous-jacente.

Abstract

Ninety five utterances produced in spontaneous speech have served in the analysis of the phrasing of syntactic structures.

In this article, we show that Montreal French assigns an intonational phrasing boundary at the right edge of a domain. Intonational boundaries usually coincide with the sentence (I") or with any other lexical maximal projection (V", N", P"). However other syntactic constituants such as V', N', Neg., may also coincide with the intonational boundary.

In this study, we have provided an acoustic analysis of the utterances. We obtained Fo contours that served as the inference of underlying tonal sequence.
