Abstract
This paper is a follow up to a previous publication (Gabrion & Brunet, 2014) but can be read independently. It presents an analysis of the narcissistic stakes that punctuated a man’s existence whose criminal record mainly contains thefts. The main objective is to understand how the omnipotence and the over-investment of the Ideal Ego had an influence in the subject’s criminal real-life experience and in his interpersonal relationships. Twelve interviews have allowed us to identify three themes relating to unconscious conflicts: the overinvestment of the Ideal Ego, the identification to criminality and the self-perception. The analysis shows how a specific structuring of the personality affected this man’s choices and his lifestyle.
