Le tutorat ou « le temps suspendu »

Résumé

Cet article porte sur le tutorat, un dispositif qui s’est mis en place dans les universités françaises au début de la dernière décennie. L’étude analyse les raisons qui ont conduit à sa standardisation et à sa reproduction en prenant appui sur des sources bibliographiques et des études locales. D’une part, elle présente le tutorat comme une pratique issue du modèle technologique de l’éducation qui modifie le rapport des étudiants au temps de l’apprentissage. D’autre part, elle montre qu’à certaines conditions, les tuteurs, acteurs principaux du dispositif, sont des médiateurs qui facilitent l’accès des étudiants aux connaissances universitaires.

Abstract

This article presents an analysis of tutoring as an approach which was implemented in French universities at the beginning of the last decade. Using bibliographic sources and local studies, the author explains the reasons that led to the standardization and reproduction of this approach. On the one hand, tutoring is presented as a practice whose roots come from an educational technology model which changes the relationship between students and their learning. On the other hand, the author shows that under certain conditions, tutors who are the principal actors in this approach, are seen as mediators who facilitate students’ access to university level knowledge.

Resumen

El dispositivo que representa el tutorado se ha puesto en marcha en las universidades francesas en la última década. Este artículo analiza las razones que han conducido a su estandarización y a su reproducción apoyándose en fuentes bibliográficas y en estudios locales. Por un lado, se presenta el tutorado como un práctica resultante del modelo tecnológico de la educación que modifica la relación de los estudiantes con respecto al tiempo de aprendizaje. Por otro lado, el estudio muestra que bajo ciertas condiciones, los tutores, considerados como actores principales del dispositivo, se constituyen en mediadores que facilitan el acceso de los estudiantes al conocimiento universitario.

Zusammenfassung

Die Einrichtung eines « Tutoriums » ist in den französischen Universitäten seit etwa einem Jahrzehnt sehr verbreitet. Der Beitrag analysiert die Gründe, die zu dieser, inzwischen zum Standard gewordenen, Einrichtung geführt haben, und dies unter Heranziehung bibliographischer Daten und lokaler Studien. Einerseits stellt sich das Tutorium als eine Praxis dar, die aus einem technologischen Erziehungsmodell hervorgegangen ist und das Verhältnis der Studenten zur aufzuwendenden Lernzeit verändert, und andererseits ergibt sich, dass unter bestimmten Bedingungen die Tutoren zu Wissensvermittlern werden, die den Studenten den Zugang zu universitärem Wissen erleichtern.
