Abstract
The author recounts the journey that led him to study three Canadian law schools as sites of specific cultures about law and legal education. He presents the original theoretical framework designed for this comparative study at the intersection of social anthropology and comparative law; he also describes the defining methodological choices for his journey. The author then gives an overview of the results in the form of postcards describing some of the salient elements of the worlds of meaning studied and the cultural differences that characterize them. Finally, the author takes advantage of the years that have passed since completion of the study, and especially his change of status from quasi-insider observer to full-time actor in one of the studied institutions, to offer some reflections on the path taken and the proposed model to highlight its strengths and weaknesses.
