Résumé
Dans cet article, la proximité entre vie végétale et performance théâtrale sera considérée suivant deux perspectives. Dans la première partie de l’article, il sera démontré que la proximité avec les plantes nécessite un ajustement sensuel, temporel et intime. Cet ajustement ou syntonie agit sur nos sens et est lié au déploiement de l’imagination esthétique et poétique. La performance peut ainsi être un espace d’invention poétique de la proximité et de l’enchevêtrement entre humains et plantes. En même temps, le rapprochement ne peut se produire que si la proximité de la vie végétale a des conséquences performatives pour le théâtre. Dans sa deuxième partie, l’article s’attache à démontrer qu’une véritable proximité affecte les relations sociales, politiques et esthétiques à travers lesquelles le théâtre existe. Étant donné que la photosynthèse est rarement possible dans les espaces théâtraux, la vie végétale perturbe également la communauté que le théâtre souhaite établir. La proximité des plantes modifie la manière dont la performance existe dans le monde ; elle déstabilise la manière dont la performance existe poétiquement, éthiquement et institutionnellement, la manière dont elle est produite, créée, partagée et suivie.
Abstract
This article views the proximity between plant life and stage performance from two perspectives. The first part shows that proximity with plants requires a sensual, temporal and intimate adjustment. This adjustment, or syntony, acts upon our senses and relates to the deployment of the esthetic and poetic imagination. Performance can also be a space for the poetic invention of proximity and the overlap of humans and plants. At the same time, this rapprochement can occur only if the proximity to plant life has performative consequences for theatre. The second part of the article purports to show that a veritable proximity affects the social, political and aesthetic relationships across which the theatre exists. Given that photosynthesis is rarely possible in theatres, plant life also disrupts the community the theatre wishes to establish. The proximity of plants changes the way performance exists in the world; it destabilizes how performance exists poetically, aesthetically and institutionally, how it is produced, created, shared and followed.
