Cette thèse porte sur l’évolution et la structure de la politique de distribution des présents aux communautés autochtones alliées des Français au XVIIIe siècle au Canada, en Acadie et dans les Pays d’En-Haut. Si l’historiographie a bien montré l’importance des présents dans le maintien des alliances franco-autochtones, elle s’est rarement interrogée sur la manière dont le gouverneur général a pu maintenir un aussi vaste réseau d’alliances, reproduisant année après année, à l’échelle de la Nouvelle-France, les négociations avec les communautés alliées. Notre hypothèse initiale est que la distribution des présents, au-delà d’être une simple pratique diplomatique, constituait un véritable outil impérial dont l’utilité ne se limitait pas seulement au maintien des alliances franco-autochtones. Third episode of the fifteen television films of Michel Subiela's Tribunal de l'impossible, "The Last Rose, or the Ghosts of Trianon" (Saturday February 10, 1968), brings to life the supposed meeting of two English teachers, visiting Versailles in 1901, with… Marie-Antoinette: the life and death of this queen, immediately associated with her favorite place, have always aroused popular curiosity. It is August 10, 1901: Eleanor Jourdain and Charlotte Anne Moberly get lost while looking for the Petit Trianon and then have a series of bizarre encounters – including the Queen; on their return they wrote An Adventure (1911), which formalized their exceptional intellectual and perhaps romantic friendship. Retrovision or romantic exaltation? In short, the encounter with the specter of Marie-Antoinette will have authorized, in the sense of fantasy, the sensitive communion which will unite these two women throughout their lives.
