2021 — The Zero-Truncated Poisson-Weighted Exponential Distribution with ApplicationsAbstract
This research proposes a new distribution for non-zero count data, namely the zero-truncated Poisson-weighted exponential distribution (ZTPWE). The Poisson- weighted exponential distribution(P-WE) has been proved to be a flexible two-parameter distribution; therefore, Zero-truncated models can be used to investigate data with- out zero counts. The combination of two such methods will be discussed in two parts. In the first part (the theoretical part), the probability mass function is derived from two methods. Then theoretical properties of the zero-truncated Poisson weighted exponential distribution are discussed: such as probability generating function, moment generating function, characteristic function, and moments. Furthermore, the method of … Read more

2016 — Image Reconstruction from Limited Radiographic ProjectionsAbstract
Radiography is a non-destructive technique that uses penetrating radiation, such as X-rays, to image the internal structure of an object by providing projections of the material content on a two-dimensional screen. Computer Tomography (CT) uses multiple-projections to reconstruct a pixelated cross-section image. The number of projections in CT has to be at least equal to the number of reconstructed pixels in order to be able to reconstruct a non-ambiguous image. However, often imaged objects have a known or uniform material content and are examined to detect anomalies or defects. Such known information can be used to reconstruct tomographic images using … Read more

2022 — Experimental study on enhanced shale gas recovery by CO2 injection under high temperature and pressure conditionsAbstract
Shale gas development is a key growth point for the future energy industry. Many scholars have used continuous gas injection by carbon dioxide (CO2) to study enhanced gas recovery on crushed powdered shale samples, but few researchers use the production methods, such as Huff-N-Puff gas injection. Thus, it is necessary to compare and study the efficiency of various shale gas extraction methods. In addition, in the process of shale gas exploitation, many factors affect methane (CH4) recovery, but the degree of influence of these factors is not completely understood. This research will focus on the effects of fracture distribution and … Read more

2024 — Characterization of CO2 separation from post-combustion flue gas mixtures using nanocomposite membrane: Molecular dynamics analysisAbstract
Dependency on fossil fuels to fulfill the global energy requirement has led to an increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere particularly carbon dioxide (CO2) from industrial pollution. This has resulted in environmental impact, climate changes, etc. Hence, carbon capture became the focus of industries and academics to reduce the effects of greenhouse gases. However, capturing those free-flowing CO2, especially from the post-combustion flue gas has been a challenge. On the contrary, membrane-based carbon capture and storage (CCS) became a great option due to its retrofitting capability, sustainability, and reusability. Still, considerable research is required to properly … Read more

2024 — Carbon dioxide and ethane solubility in bis tri (fluromethylsulfonyl) imide-based ionic liquids: Selectivity measurements and modellingAbstract
The urgent need to address carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a critical factor in escalating greenhouse gas levels and global warming, underscores the significance of effective capture and reduction methods. This research investigates the absorption of Carbon Dioxide and Ethane in three ionic liquids: 1-Decyl-3-MethylimidazoliumBis (Trifluromethylsulfonyl Imide) [IL1], 1-Hexadecyl-3-Methyl imidazoliumBis (Trifluromethylsulfonyl Imide) [IL2] and Triethytetradecyl Ammonium Bis (Trifluromethylsulfonyl Imide) [IL3]. Solubility measurements of CO2 were conducted from 303.15K to 343.15K and pressures up to 1.5 MPa, utilizing a gravimetric microbalance. The acquired solubility values were correlated with the Peng Robinson (PR) equation of state (EoS) using three mixing rules: Single - … Read more

2015 — Facing the Last Enemy: Death, Trauerarbeit, and Harry PotterAbstract
J. K. Rowling’s critically acclaimed and wildly successful Harry Potter series details an orphan hero’s quest to reclaim a lost family, and, yet, very little of the previous scholarship has explored the perennial, overarching grief that spans the length of the series. Death litters the landscape of the text—there are 57 young deaths alone throughout the series—and the story is continually propelled forward as Harry reacts to each new episode of loss. Yet, too little attention has been paid to the depth to which grief colours Harry’s story, and the then necessary and consolatory function of what Freud calls “grief … Read more
