Handicaps et technologies

Afin de situer les relations interactives entre les handicaps et les technologies, cet article explique l'évolution conceptuelle contemporaine du processus de production des handicaps pour les corps différents aux plans fonctionnel, comportemental et esthétique. Ceci permet d'illustrer les rapports de la variable environnementale " technologies " avec les niveaux organique, fonctionnel et social. D'une part on souligne que, les capacités de tous les êtres humains étant limitées, ceux-ci font appel aux technologies pour dépasser ces limites corporelles et d'autre part, que les innovations technologiques actuelles sont susceptibles de transformer radicalement l'équation handicapante : corps déficients égale corps incapables.

Handicaps and Technologies

In order to set the interactive relations between handicaps and technologies, this paper explains the contemporary conceptual evolution concerning the process of production of handicaps for bodies which are different at the functional, behavioral and aesthetical levels. This will allow to illustrate the relations between the environmental variable and the organic, functional and social levels. On one side, it is emphasized that as the abilities of all human beings are limited, technologies are called on to exceed these corporal limitations and, on the other side, that the current technological innovations are able to transform radically the handicap equation : " deficient bodies " make " unable bodies ".
