Matériel didactique et méthodes en géographie

Résumé

La didactique de la géographie doit en tout être conforme à la méthodologie de la géographie. C'est à partir d'une conception éclairée de cette discipline qu'il faut définir le rôle et la formation du professeur de géographie au niveau secondaire. A la fois pédagogue, éducateur et géographe, celui-ci doit maîtriser des habiletés fort diverses pour réussir l'acte premier et essentiel de son enseignement : apprendre à l'enfant et à l'adolescent comment observer des faits géographiques. À travers une classification commode de trois genres d'observation selon le matériel dont on dispose, l'auteur esquisse divers procédés didactiques qui même s'ils ne sont point nouveaux sont toujours d'une grande actualité.

Abstract

The teaching of geography must in all ways conform to the methodology of geography. It is from a clear conception of this discipline that the role and training of the secondary school geographer teacher must be defined. At once pedagogue, educator, and geographer, he must master a variety of techniques to succeed in the first and most important part of his teaching, that of teaching the child and the adolescent how to observe geographic facts. By means of a convenient classification of three types of observation using the material at hand, the author outlines different teaching procedures, which, while not new, are very relevant.
