Résumé

Le compositeur montréalais Serge Provost a mis en musique des extraits du livret d’opéra de Claude Gauvreau, Le vampire et la nymphomane, sous le titre L’adorable verrotière. Après avoir analysé les problèmes de la relation entre texte et musique chez Monteverdi et Boulez, Provost décrit l’aspect madrigalesque de son oeuvre et montre comment il l’a conçue à partir du texte de Gauvreau.

Abstract

Under the title of L'Adorable verrotière, Montreal composer Serge Provost has set excerpts from the opera libretto left by Claude Gauvreau, Le vampire et la nymphomane (The Vampire and the Nymphomaniac). After analyzing the complex relationships between text and music in some compositions by Monteverdi and Boulez, Provost describes the madrigal-like quality of his own work and shows how he came to conceive of it starting from Gauvreau's text.
