These photographs document counter culture. That is, yoghurt, Roquefort cheese and beer, made using live active cultures, and photographed on a countertop. This title, “counter culture,” also asks us to think about the extent to which these foods are cultured. These foods travel, are adopted, adapted, shared, represented visually and textually. They come with and promote the telling of stories.
