Abstract
The involvement of women in hunting is the subject of controversy in contemporary media. A qualitative analysis of press articles and magazines published between 2013 and 2017, interviews and testimonies on the experience of huntresses, and comments from the general public were used to explore the diversity of representations as to the motivations underlying hunting activity, hunting strategies, reactions to the death of animals, relationship to nature and protection of wildlife. The corpus also highlights the contrasting reactions of the general public and the intense debates regarding the participation of women in hunting (sexist remarks or defense of their rights, mental health, ethical issues, etc.) and the prejudices and stereotypes raised in these articles. These discourses indicate that the problems they encounter are similar to those reported against women who get involved in traditionally male occupations.
