AB - This article focuses on the Acadians’ forced exile in the Massachusetts colony following the Great Upheaval in 1755. The article more specifically draws attention to the help provided by both authorities and population. It will state the vision of the Anglo-Puritan society towards this particular group and linguistic devices used against them: does the Acadian exile enlighten us on the Anglo-American first perceptions towards immigration? The article will also examine the juridical and political discourse and the integration of the Acadians to the Anglo-American society in order to single out attitudes and language. The integration of these hundreds of Acadian refugees to the family and working relations of the colony will also be approached. Eventually, can we perceive an evolution in the ways Acadian people were hosted from 1755 to 1775?
