AB - Based on a study of the public’s reception of an exhibition of Rubens work in Lille in 2004, this article seeks to understand the ways in which visitors to the exhibition deploy and employ their knowledge and training in history, sociology and anthropology of art. Paying attention to the appropriation by the public of the tools of cultural mediation made available by the exhibit itself but also their existing knowledge and disciplinary tools, the article identifies a new form of mediation, which is the capacity of visitors to use and deploy, in addition to disciplinary knowledge, certain skills as “intellectuals.” DO - https://doi.org/10.7202/019450ar UR - https://id.erudit.org/iderudit/019450ar L1 - https://www.erudit.org/fr/revues/lsp/2008-n60-lsp2511/019450ar.pdf DP - Érudit: www.erudit.org DB - Érudit ER -
