Apprendre l’orthographe reste une tâche difficile pour nombre d’élèves et conditionne fortement leur vécu scolaire et leur réussite. Étudier l’efficacité des méthodes employées pour améliorer l’apprentissage de l’orthographe chez les élèves est donc primordial. Ici, nous avons testé l’efficacité d’un entrainement consistant à effectuer des dictées guidées par un support donnant plusieurs indices sur les mots à écrire, notamment leur nombre de lettres. Cet entrainement est comparé à un entrainement par des dictées classiques, non guidées. Les résultats indiquent que l’entrainement avec dictées guidées est plus efficace que l’entrainement avec dictées classiques pour les élèves de niveau moyen-faible en orthographe. Les élèves très faibles en orthographe progressent de façon similaire quel que soit le type d’entrainement et aucun progrès n’est observé chez les élèves déjà performants en orthographe.

Abstract
Learning to spell continues to be a difficult task for many students, and strongly shapes both their school experience and their success. In this context, it becomes crucial to study the effectiveness of methods intended to help students learn to spell. This study tested the effectiveness of teaching via guided dictations based on a medium that gives clues on the words to be written down, including the number of letters. This instructional approach is compared with traditional, non-guided dictation. The results suggest that, for students at a medium-low level of spelling ability, teaching using guided dictation is more effective than using traditional dictation. Students with very weak spelling ability progress in a similar fashion irrespective of the type of teaching employed, and students who are already proficient in spelling do not appear to exhibit any particular progress.

Resumen
El aprendizaje de la ortografía sigue siendo una tarea difícil para muchos estudiantes y condiciona fuertemente su experiencia escolar y el éxito de esta. Por lo tanto, es esencial estudiar la efectividad de los métodos utilizados para mejorar las habilidades de deletreo de los estudiantes. Aquí, probamos la efectividad de una capacitación que consiste en realizar dictados guiados por un soporte que proporciona varias pistas sobre las palabras a escribir, en particular la cantidad de letras. Este entrenamiento se compara con un entrenamiento con dictados clásicos no guiados. Los resultados indican que el entrenamiento de dictado guiado es más efectivo que el entrenamiento de dictado convencional para estudiantes con un nivel de ortografía promedio-bajo . Los estudiantes con bajo nivel de ortografía progresan de manera similar independientemente del tipo de capacitación y no se observa ningún progreso entre los estudiantes que ya tienen un buen desempeño en ortografía.
