Abstract
Remote supervision of a practicum or internship allows postsecondary programs to offer support and guidance in the practice setting, in effect replacing face-to-face supervision. But in spite of the massive influx of digital technologies, and the doors they open for multidimensional approaches, little is known about the practices of various internship partners in this context. This article presents the results of a systematic review of 43 articles on the topic. Drawing on an analysis inspired by the categories of Wearne et al. (2015), the article compares face-to-face and remote supervision, describes the experiences of trainees/interns and those who supervise them in practice settings, and uncovers the key patterns, effects and issues associated with different fields of postsecondary education.
