AB - There is a growing interest regarding palliative care. When this type of care is provided to an elderly person at home, it is generally the spouse who acts as the primary carer. This paper is based on the results of a study aiming to identify elements influencing the palliative care experience of a senior’s spouse at home. Based on eight experiential life stories gathered from elderly spouses who provided palliative care at home, we have drawn a model of different representations of accompaniment. We also provide a reflection on the professional intervention with this elderly clientele.
