Apprentissage par problème et psychothérapie : lorsque la méthode d’enseignement rencontre la méthode clinique Problem-based learning and psychotherapy: When teaching and clinical practice meet

Résumé

Cet article expose les réflexions suscitées par l’utilisation de la méthode d’apprentissage par problème (APP) dans la formation universitaire en psychologie clinique. Cette méthode s’avère pertinente pour l’acquisition des compétences cliniques spécifiques à la pratique de la psychothérapie. Les processus se déployant au sein de la méthode APP et de la psychothérapie partagent plusieurs lieux communs. Ils sont abordés à la lumière de notions fondamentales propres au travail clinique : observation, rigueur, processus relationnels inhérents au lien thérapeutique, espace transitionnel, autorégulation, échafaudage, co-construction et élaboration d’un narratif. Un exemple permet d’illustrer les processus d’intégration et de co-construction des connaissances se manifestant en APP.

Abstract

This article outlines some thoughts raised by the use of the Problem-Based Learning Method (PBLM) in a Clinical Psychology program. This method appears to be relevant for the development of some skills specific to psychotherapy. The processes involved in the PBLM and in psychotherapy share many characteristics. They are discussed in the light of fundamental concepts related to clinical work, including observation, rigour, relational processes involved in the therapeutic relationship, transitional space, capacity for self-regulation, scaffolding, and narrative construction. An example illustrates the processes involved in the integration and co-construction of knowledge, which are promoted by the PBLM.
