Abstract
The aim of this project was to improve the level of reading through the use of peer tutoring for students in three French immersion schools. The program consisted of private sessions between pairs of Grade five, six, and seven students with a Grade two or three reader who is having difficulties. This project is on-going in these schools as well as in others, thus the importance and interest of this research for the community. The results obtained are positive in general and show that peer tutoring by the older student pairs in immersion schools can be an efficient way to improve the reading level of students having minor difficulties, although this approach presents some limitations with students having more important difficulties.
