Biographical note
Arnold Simmel arrived in the U.S. age 13 from Germany via England. After Army Service graduated from Harvard in Math, in 1950 wrote a computer simulation program at MIT for a social comunication process, then worked many years primarily as a methodologist at the Bureau of Applied Social Research at Columbia, teaching, as substitute, introductory methodology and medical sociology courses at numerous universities, never getting tenure and ending up doing statistics at the New York City Board of education.
