Du modernisme au postmodernisme : le sort de l’intertexte français dans le roman québécois contemporain

De l'après-guerre au tournant des années quatre-vingt, entre le conflit des codes décrit par André Belleau et l'avènement d'une poétique postmoderne, l'intertextualité du roman québécois obéit à de profondes transformations. La présente étude analyse la fonction du mot de l'autre dans deux textes pivots de la production contemporaine: Prochain Épisode de Hubert Aquin, où la quête identitaire passe par un affrontement avec la norme française et les modèles d'autorité que sont Balzac et Simenon, et Maryse de Francine Noël, qui fictionnaltse la légitimation de la littérature et du code linguistique québécois. En modifiant le rapport que le roman québécois entretient avec l'intertexte français, ces oeuvres baliseraient le passage du modernisme au postmodernisme.

From the post-war period to the 1980's, between the conflict of codes described by André Belleau and the coming of a postmodern poetics, the role of intertëxtuality in the Quebec novel has undergone profound transformations. The present article analyzes the function of the word of others in two important contemporary novels : Hubert Aquin's Prochain Épisode in which a quest for identity must confront the French norm (Balzac, Simenon) and Francine Noël's Maryse that fictionalizes the legitimization of both Quebec's literature and its linguistic code. In modifying the relation that the Quebec novel maintains with the French intertext, these two works mark the passage from modernism to postmodernism.
