This thesis is an attempt to study the role of Ahmad Surkati in al-Irshad movement in Java, and its implications for the Arab community in Indonesia. Surkati was a Sudanese Muslim scholar who, in 1911, came to Indonesia as one of the Islamic teachers invited by Jamiat Khair, an Arab organization, which was established in Jakarta in 1905. The fact that the Hadrami Arabs were divided into two groups, the sayyids who enjoyed elevated position and the non-sayyids, urged Ahmad Surkati to propagate the idea of equality among Muslims. The Muslim community constituting 90% of Indonesla's total population, remains divided into two major factions: the Secular Nationalists, who believe in a radical separation between state and religion, and the Islamic Nationalists who, while not insisting on a fully Islamic State maintain that the Constitution should include a recognition of the special place of Islam. This study examined the status of 50 retired profes­sional social workers, 43 female and 7 male. The sample was identified from lists provided by the Corporation of Profes­sional Social Workers, English Chapter, Montreal, and the McGill University Alumni Society. The retirees were surveyed through the use of a devised questionnaire designed to obtain pertinent data concerning level of education, health, housing, income, activities, satisfaction with life in general, the retirement experience, and orientation to the social work profession. It was found that localized delta waves could be produced in cerebral cortex overlying a circumscribed white matter lesion. Generalized delta activity could be produced by a lesion in the mesencephalic reticular formation. Cortical gray matter lesions and subcortical white matter edema produced no delta waves. "This report has addressed itself to the patterns of a family's reactions and responses to mental illness in one of its members. A survey of the literature was undertaken to bring together a number of relevant studies and readings in this area in order to reveal a picture of the processes involved. The developing pattern of responses to mental illness is a process which encompasses the notion of deviance versus normality. The primary purpose of this paper is to test the hypotheses developed by Dr. Kanungo on job involvement attitudes in a cross-cultural context. This paper attempts to show that prior socialization determines the saliency of needs in an individual; and, as long as these salient needs are perceived to be satisfied on the job, the person would be highly involved in his work, irrespective of his cultural background. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that detonation wave can be initiated by photochemical means in a reactive gaseous medium. Photolysis of reactive mixture produces free radicals acting as initiators for combustion and it is predicted that high concentration of free radical should generate detonations. A high power Xenon Flash was used as the ignition source. The ignition time delay and pressure rise were monitored for different gas mixtures under various conditions. Héritiers du réformisme laïc de Khayr al-Din et successeurs de Bashir Safer comme porte-parole de la populace tunisienne devant la bureaucratie francaise, les Jeunes-Tunisiens étaient une petite élite groupée autour de 'Ali Bash Hanbah et de l'hébdomadaire Le Tunislien.
