2023 — Cortical Correlates of Executive Functions in Adolescents and Young Adults with a Congenital Heart DefectRésumé
Introduction: Adolescents and young adults born with a complex congenital heart defect (CHD) are at risk for executive function (EF) impairments which contribute to the psychological and everyday burden of CHD. Cortical dysmaturation has been well described in fetuses and neonates with CHD and early evidence suggests that cortical alterations in thickness, surface area, and gyrification index are non-transient and can be observed in adolescents with CHD. However, cortical alterations have yet to be investigated as possible correlates for the EF deficits in youth with CHD. This study aims to use a data-driven approach to identify the cortical correlates of … Lire la suite

2023 — FONDUE: Robust resolution-invariant denoising of Magnetic Resonance Images using Nested UNetsRésumé

2023 — Development of a small, cost-efficient scintillation detector for use in automated synthesis of PET radiopharmaceuticals.Résumé
Radiolabelling is the final and critical step in producing positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracers involving complex chemical reactions. To enhance production efficiency and minimize radiation exposure, the process has been broken downinto basic automated unit operations, executed within a synthesis module placed inside a hot cell. Within the synthesis module, radiation detectors play a key role by allowing the radiochemists to monitor radioactivity transfer across compartments and ensure the progression of reactions. However, these detectors come at a high cost per channel, motivating the need for more affordable alternatives. This thesis aims to develop a compact and cost-efficient detector using … Lire la suite

The safety of urban honey is a growing concern due to pesticide contamination, necessitating effective monitoring methods. Small-scale urban beekeeping has emerged as a promising solution to counter the honeybee population decline and high honey demand. However, urban pesticides pose risks as bees unintentionally collect them while foraging, leading to pesticide residue accumulation in honey. This issue has been substantiated by various reports confirming the occurrence of pesticides in urban settings and their detection in honey, underscoring the importance of addressing this concern for both honey producers and consumers. Recognized as a promising approach for pesticide residue monitoring in food … Lire la suite
