Widely studied from the “natural” perspective of a generational tabula rasa, the formalist shift in poetic technique known as the abolition of the coupe feminine, which occurred around 1515, is a thorny issue much more complicated than it would first appear. This formal silence, imposed upon the caesura by young poets (Marot) and older ones (Lemaire) alike, caused a sensation once wielded as a misogynist spearhead against a more insidiously authoritarian linguistic normalization. Beyond the false debate around modernity that re-enacts an older one, and beyond the debate, conducted in misogynist terms, that incongruously literalizes a highly technical issue, the last flickers of “epic” and “lyrical” coupes would seem also to need to conceal the dissidence of phonological, regional specificity against the centralist francisation of the “poetic thing,” under the influence of a new unanimity at the Court of Valois that discretely—and unusually—opposes order to reactionary rebellion.

The practices associated with the expression of amourous feelings reveal the presence of gifts ot the object of affection and of objects crafted to decorate the “love nest”. Other artifacts are employed to seek revenge for the rejection of their love or to serve as love charms. The majority of these artifacts hold symbolic significance and serve as good-luck charms.

Jurists and the press regularly question the quality of the English versions of Québec laws, which are translated from French. We propose, within the framework of corpus translatology, a tool-based analysis of the informational deviations on the entire corpus of nearly 13 million words found in all consolidated statutes of Québec (6.46 million in French; 6.45 million in English). We focus on heteromorphic and non-standard segment pairs screened with the help of two metrics: ratio of standardized translated information precision (STIP) and standardized Euclidean distance (SED), respectively. These metrics are based on the standardized value of three features of the source and target segments, namely the number of characters, the number of lexical words and the number of grammatical and lexical words (total words). Manual examination of a large number of heteromorphic and non-standard segment pairs (automatically screened with these two indicators) highlights the variety and complexity of the techniques used by translation professionals in informational translation deviations, and reports a tiny number of 8 translation errors characterized by the complete omission of either source or target segment. Our data suggest that the translation of Québec law texts fully meets the professional translation standards of the legal translation field of specialization. The analysis of the pairs of segments screened also confirms the significant role played by redundancy and ellipsis in translations as well as their interference in the analysis of explicitation in translation, just like all constraints of a phraseological nature that occur in translation operations and which compel translators to transgress the norm of isomorphism of the information content of translations.

The study investigates the progressive establishment of cultural and artistic activities on Bordeaux university campus between 1968 and 1995. Different fields contribute to these installations : film clubs, music and theater. In contrast, the field of visual arts is clearly behind despite opportunities such as decorative presence of several monumental sculptures of contemporary art, setting up of the visual arts teaching sector. The analysis of the written press, the identification of the actors involved and the passing of a dozen interviews permit to see how forms of university modernization are dependent on singular reference scales : between hopes linked to the opening of the fine arts school to the university and academic contraints specific to the Old continent, realization of artistic potentiality for music and theater inspired by everyday life on North American campuses.
