On a programmé la combinaison de deux ordinateurs, communiquant entre eux par une ligne de données, pour effectuer une recherche exhaustive « depth first » des arbres au jeu d'échecs. Les ordinateur se partage l’évaluation des somurets près de la racine de l’arbre en evaluant séparément les successeurs de ces sommets. On a trouvé qu'un PDP 11/45, fonctionnant a 1 Mhz., et un PDP 11/20, qui fonctionne à 0.5 Mhz, se combinent pour former une unité centrale distribuée possédant une vitesse effective moyenne de 1.35 Mhz. c.a.d. 0.15 Mhz. de moins que la puissance combinée maximale de 1.5 Mhz. Une chapitre final compare des structures de controle possible pour une exploration de l’arbre en parallèle avec N unités centrales.

It will be argued that the overcoming and avoiding of dogmatism is a decisive feature of the change in Wittgenstein's thinking that takes place in the beginning of the 1930's when he starts to emphasise the autonomy of the grammar of language and to talk about grammatical pictures and language games as objects of comparison. By examining certain crucial features in this change in Wittgenstein's thinking, it will be shown that he received decisive impulses and ideas from new developments in mathematics and natural science in the early 20th century.
