AbstractThis article stems from a dialogue between four “young” anthropologists from different parts of the world on the actual and future stake of what we refer as “anthropologies of the world”. Despite the diversity of our critics, a fundamental convergence occurs in the refusal of a disengaged elitism, of a comfortable reification of our objects of studies as well as of the erasure of the historical and socioeconomic conditions on which the global expansion and reproduction of our discipline is based As such, we underline the urgency to account for our research interlocutors' daily preoccupations and to revendicate spaces and legitimacy to intervene within political as well as media spheres.

The use of biographical elements in a literary essay can arise from the need to organize archival material according to the narrative logic of a life story. Borrowing from a genre with which the reader is familiar, the history of mentalities, the history of the literary institution and reflections on identity combine in a hybrid form, the “biographical essay”. The biographical essay is characterized by techniques belonging to fiction and metafiction, and the flexibility of this type of writing gives the author permission to explore reading hypotheses about his character or the reference society, with infinitely more freedom (but just as much rigour) as a traditional academic essay. Bernard Andrès adopted this method in his fictionalized biography, L'énigme de Sales Laterrière. He is also applying it to his current research on literary adventurers of the eighteenth century.

The COVID-19 pandemic, climate migration, and biodiversity loss are examples of contemporary crises which, as Van Rensselaer Potter suggests, would benefit from a rapprochement between Bio and Ethics in order to mitigate the damage. Future bioethicists will have to continue this Potterian quest by opening up the field of bioethics to new interdisciplinary collaboration and themes of study, going beyond biomedical technologies and the life sciences, to include business, corporations, finance, the market and human consumption, production and demography, all of which have significant influences on the local allocation of care and on the global future of ecosystems.

Relying on the expressive power of polysemic cinematographic language and on his own experience in the field of documentary as well as the cinematic references that have shaped his conception of cinema, Khairy Beshara has managed to capture the soul of Yahya Tahar Abdallah’s work while imbuing it with his own aesthetic and ideological vision. He has thus succeeded in striking a balance between reinvention and fidelity. We had the opportunity to meet him and to talk about the key moments that allowed his film adaptation project to see the light of day.
