Although the vulnerability of refugee women is a cornerstone of access to protection, it is rarely defined beyond its common-sense meaning - the risk of suffering harm. This article presents the results of an empirical research where 12 life histories were collected from Syrian refugee women responsible for supporting their families in Lebanon (7) and Québec (5). The analysis mobilized the concept of ambivalent vulnerability (Oliviero, 2016) and showed that women and their relatives were certainly exposed to forms of adversity, but also to transformative opportunities and to elements of continuity with their life trajectories.

Since 2006, European translation agencies willing to work according to the EN 15038 standard on translation services have had to include revision in their process. However, the standard is not clear as to how revision has to be conducted and in particular, to the necessity of comparing source and target texts during the revision process. This observation lies at the basis of an ongoing research project on the impact of revision procedure on revision product and process. In this paper, a noncomparative revision procedure, named monolingual revision, will be compared to three comparative procedures: bilingual revision and two “double revisions,” i.e., a bilingual revision followed by a monolingual revision and a monolingual revision followed by a bilingual revision. The aim is to determine whether monolingual revision is efficient and if so, in what conditions and compared to which procedures. In the main study, the scores of 16 professional revisers, who had to revise four comparable target texts using one of the four procedures each time, have been compared as to quality of the revision (product), error detection potential, and process duration (process). An analysis of the variance (ANOVA) has shown that monolingual revision is not significantly less efficient than bilingual revision as to quality and error detection potential, but it does not take significantly less time either. In contrast, monolingual revision is significantly less efficient than double revisions, but it does take significantly less time.

The adsorption of Victoria Blue Basic (VBB) dye on used cardboard (UC) was studied and compared to that on sawdust (SD). UC was characterized by several analytical techniques. The parameters influencing the reaction, such as pH, adsorbent dosage and contact time, were determined. The kinetic study revealed that the surface reaction fits a pseudo-second order model and that intra-particle diffusion is a determining step after the first minutes of contact. The influence of temperature on the adsorption allowed the determination of the thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS°). Modeling of the experimental results predicted a spontaneous, endothermic sorption, the retention of which follows an unclear mechanism, between a monolayer and multilayer distribution on the UC. At pH 6, the adsorption capacity of the UC is 205 mg∙g-1, which is five times greater than that of SD.

Our aim is to propose a typology of Crowdsourcing practice that can be used both for researchers and practitioners. We show that Crowdsourcing should not only be viewed as an original way to organize innovation; we propose a typology of CS practices based on the nature of the task which is crowdsourced. Three types of tasks are considered: simple task, creative task and problem solving. Our work offers a key to understand issues related to the business models of CS, such as the participants' motivation or trust relationships between the company and the crowd.

In this article, we will sketch a historical portrait of the video game sector in Quebec, both on the geographical plane (from Montreal to Quebec City through Trois-Rivières and other off-centred studios) and for different firm types (from the large studios to independent developers and amateurs). This historical overview will shed light on the challenges and characteristics of this sector which straddles both the technology and cultural industries in three stages : 1) the explorations of amateur entrepreneurs and enthusiasts; 2) the colonisation by large foreign firms and the injection of foreign capital which stimulated industry growth; 3) the structuration of independent developers (notably with La Guilde du jeu video du Québec) and the post-fission transition to a sustainable development of the sector. Our overview will cover the factual aspects of the industry, issues of contents and creative processes, and the challenges of achieving cultural sovereignty in a business sector based on liberalized markets, the free flow of capital, and a dematerialized digital economy.

Introduction: The use of digital health devices (e-health) would improve certain patient’s clinical outcomes. Proposing effective “online” interventions to improve patients’ adaptation to chronic conditions requires a validated measure of digital health literacy. The “Lisane” self-report measure was developed and validated by experts. Objectives: This article describes the field-testing of the preliminary version of the tool, more specifically the non-response rate, ceiling and floor effects, item redundancy and the preliminary assessment of its internal consistency.Method: The Lisane tool, consisting of 14 items divided into five domains (e-literacy, reliability of information on the Internet, relevance of information to personal health, protection of privacy, empowerment), was applied to a convenience sample (29 participants) recruited in Quebec (patient communities) and Switzerland (clinical setting). The non-response rate and the ceiling and floor effects were evaluated. Item redundancy was described for exploratory purposes. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Results: The rate of missing results > 15% and a redundancy (r = 0.94, p<0.05) on power to act’s items were noted. A floor effect was identified. Cronbach’s alpha was α= 0.90, 95% CI [0.78 – 1.03].Discussion and Conclusion: The field test of the Lisane tool has limitations, such as a ceiling effect and the indication of redundancy in certain items, but good preliminary evidence of internal consistency. Continued analysis of its psychometric properties (validity, reliability) is necessary.
