This study examines the impact of experiential learning on the practical and theoretical training of students enrolled in ethnology programs. The analysis is based on a project developed in an undergraduate course in Folklore and Ethnology at the University of Sudbury, Ontario, its main objective being to test this type of learning. The description and analysis of the students' experience and their relationship with communities and practice settings provide an understanding of the practical and institutional strengths and limitations of the application of experiential pedagogy in ethnology and anthropology, and in the social sciences more broadly.
