The trans and non-binary youth population is known to be at risk of discrimination and violence, in addition to facing a high risk of parental neglect. The limited research available regarding their experiences in child welfare settings reveals that these youth endure discrimination and are often forced to live with an assigned gender that is not appropriate for them. This article presents data from the Youth Leaving Care study (EDJeP), describing certain characteristics of trans and non-binary youth in care in Quebec. It provides a preliminary picture of the situation faced by these youths, the reasons for their placement, as well as their level of satisfaction regarding their experience in youth protection, as compared to cis youth in the EDJeP study. The results highlight the issue of trans and non-binary youth overrepresentation among the EDJeP youth population as compared to the general population, and also demonstrates that trans and non-binary youths experience situations distinct from those of cisgender youths.

On the occasion of this special number and in front of the relative discretion of the literature in conceptualization of the phenomena in the work during the takeover, this article proposes an original reading to understand better what is at stake in such processes when they concern craft companies. In the first part, the argumentation uses a theoretical approach centred on the identity of the craft company to highlight the specificity of their transfer process. In the second part, based on empirical material collected in several qualitative studies and monitoring of firms in the transmission phase, we attempt to define the nature of the process in terms of identity rupture or identity continuity and to show how it can impact the success – or failure – of this operation. Finally, we propose a methodological grid embodying four “configurations” : two of them lead to the breakdown of identity and failure, the other two lead to continuity of identity and success.

Psychoanalysis can shed light on the division between truth and falsehood in the social sphere based on what is just within the interpretation during the session. The fake according to Donald Trump and others, the post-truth, the “alternative facts,” all arise from a confusion that is not exactly a lie. A photographic image can be seen in many ways and, while the relativistic discourse reigns, some historians have difficulty distinguishing between fiction and truthfulness. In this new sophist rhetoric, some paranoid-perverse invariants at work in Nazi discourse are showing. Freudian conceptions of denial, psychosis and mass phenomena can be applied to the years 1930-1945, but also to the contemporary conspiracy theories, with one difference: totalitarian logic is now diluted in the crisis of the democratic authority. The truths are partial and can be improved from a secular perspective, while religions have both a dogmatic side and a side open to comment. A balanced optimism characterizes the essential defense of a renewed rationalism.

People with intellectual disabilities (ID) are often excluded from death rituals and do not get the support they need to cope with their bereavement. To provide relevant solutions on the subject, practices aimed at supporting people with ID going through a grieving process have been listed in this scoping review. The practices presented in seventeen articles reviewed in this paper offer either direct support to the bereaved person, support to support workers or support for both. Practices aimed at supporting people with ID who are going through bereavement remain few and are poorly documented. However, several of these practices are of interest for clinical settings, such as those that are art-based.

This text is an analysis of interactional dynamics during biographical interviews with youth with disabilities. This relationship with the other in its radical otherness, in its manner of existing, sometimes in suffering, in cognitive functioning very different from our perceptions, calls into question the posture of the researcher. Starting with descriptions of actual interview situations, the article deals with notions such as implied distance, familiarity, sensitive listening and introspection consideration of oneself. The engagement of the narrator, his or her perception of the listener and the meaning attributed to this particular communicative situation are questioned, along with configuration of an interview when there exists a hindrance to expression, reflexivity and conceptualization.

This article examines the ability of the practice of philosophical dialogue to help adolescents experiencing psychological suffering. We begin by discussing the specificity of this population and the relevance of a stance focused on vulnerability and capacity-building. Based on empirical data, we then propose a model of restoration of adolescents' capacities through philosophical dialogue, which appears to provide care along capacity, relational and philosophical dimensions. The results suggest a care approach.

Confronting emotions in learning and knowing how to regulate them is a challenge for all learners, including university students that must prepare for their first exams. Within this period, this article investigates a) what triggered academic emotions in the 23 newly arrived students who were interviewed and b) their personal theories about these emotions and their regulation. The content analysis conducted suggests that (a) the Scherer (2001) model is relevant as a means to understand the source of academic emotions generated during this period; b) students differ in their view of emotions as being functional or non-functional for learning. Moreover, they consider that the regulation of these emotions is learned and depends on the context.

The experience of Armenian women during the Armenian Genocide of 1915 remains largely unknown and out of the mainstream. The artist Lucia Choulakian, born in Acadia and descendant of the fourth generation of Armenian genocide survivors, seeks to understand and express this trauma that has been transmitted to her. It is then through a photographic project, autobiographical in nature, Dé-génération-elles, that she expresses this transgenerational trauma. This project is based on photographs of Armenian tattooed women, survivors of the Armenian genocide, found in the archives. This paper presents the process of creating Dé-génération-elles in order to demonstrate how theoretical and practical devices intersected in her creative process while highlighting how the theoretical and archival aspects allowed her to develop her artwork that addresses the transmission of trauma. Following a historical and methodological contextualization, her creative process is presented chronologically.
