This article considers Julia Kristeva's novel Murder in Byzantium in the context of some of the most pressing ethical and political dilemmas faced by Europe today, regarding the role of religion and the inclusion of religious references in the Constitution of European Union. It traces Kristeva's remapping of the European tradition, and places feminine creativity at the core of her analysis. I argue that this remapping that revalorizes feminine creativity and sensibility envisions the question of the eternal Europe as an illusion to be endlessly reinvented.

With the purpose of investigating the relationship between teachers’ practices and teacher models, the present article takes as its main thread the work of Anísio Teixeira at the Teachers School of the Institute of Education, in Rio de Janeiro, between 1932 and 1935. In doing that, it resorts to oral and written sources and dares to outline a research methodology. The narrative is organized into four parts and an introduction. The first part offers a general description of the place where Teixeira’s professional work is developed. Only those aspects of the history of the creation of the Institute of Education deemed as necessary to the study are described. The second part explores the broad features of that teacher practice, interweaving written and oral documentation. In the third part, the focus is on the issue of the sources. As final comments, the importance of historical investigations on teachers’ practice and models is addressed.

In this research we will approach the audiovisual media as a powerful tool, capable of reaching almost any corner of the planet in a matter of seconds. Thanks to this ubiquity, the social and cultural power they have is undeniable, and they can contribute to a great extend to developing, disseminating and fixing identity narratives. Translation acts in these cases by multiplying the expansive effect of its effectiveness in bringing such discourses to other societies in other languages. We will be interested in deepening our understanding of how intersectional identities are presented in the media, especially those identities crossed by different axes of power, which limit their visibility and marginalize their subjects. We will adopt an intersectional methodology from the field of cultural studies and, from this theoretical perspective, we shall address the intersection between sexuality and functional diversity in the Netflix series Special. The study will determine whether the rewritings into Spanish in dubbing and subtitling have been based on simplistic representations of identity, anchored in outdated stereotypes, or if, on the contrary, multifocal discursive strategies have been employed that are capable of reflecting the complexity of these identities.

This article analyzes the conception of religion that appears from the religion-based asylum claims litigation in Canada. The Canadian State is compelled to respect a double obligation of neutrality and guarantee of freedom of conscience and religion, which leads it to interfere in the religious field to outline the concept of religion. The particularity of the asylum litigation reveals a functional understanding of religion, which remains nonetheless permeated with sociocultural residues. The analysis will first present the strategies of the commissioners and judges to avoid defining the religion. It will then show how the specificities of the asylum litigation, including the analysis of factual elements such as the credibility assessment, the evaluation of the risk of persecution and well-founded fear, affect the definition of religion that emerges from it.

AbstractTo face its Corporate Social Responsibility constitutes henceforth a necessity for the company, particularly when it is about a multinational one. In a paradoxical way, the internationalization of the activities complicates the situation in the sense that the company has to face local cultural specificities. These specificities entail different expectations regarding the company, some of them may contradict the societal principles adopted by the parent company (according to the universal standards of behaviour). How does the company adapt its approach of CSR to the country of setting-up, which are the stakeholders involved in this process? It is the question that the author attempts to answer by taking for base the example of 8 French companies having subsidiaries implanted in Mexico.
