Rivalled in the critical domain by terms such as "transmediality" and "intermediality," or approached from the perspectives of remaking and rewriting, which put less emphasis on the notion of medium than on gestures of repetition within the same "universe," adaptation seems to have become a theoretical horizon of the past. As Sarah Cardwell (2018) notes, by embracing numerous forms of remaking, adaptation studies has, paradoxically, come to do without adaptation and instead finds itself diluted within a larger whole that one might call “intertextual studies”. This article aims to show that the theory of adaptation benefits from encounters with what generally nourishes popular culture: seriality. Several examples of contemporary “neo-Victorian” television series as well as a metacritical analysis of the categories of fictional “world” and “universe” will demonstrate that the conceptual imprecisions between adaptation and intertextuality is also an opportunity to develop theoretical approaches to adaptation that are more open and consider the perpetual expansion of contemporary fictional forms.

This article examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the field of education and explores its benefits and challenges. The use of AI in the education sector offers many advantages such as the automation of repetitive administrative tasks and the personalisation of learning paths. However, this raises ethical concerns about the protection of personal data and the risk of creating algorithmic biases. In addition, we address other challenges: those related to the opposition between automated and human assessment as well as the complex implications of facial recognition in an educational context. It is essential that a considered and ethical approach to the deployment of AI in education is thought through, emphasising the need for clear and transparent ethical principles and careful pedagogical reflection. We recommend the use of open-source AI tools to promote transparency and compliance with current regulations.

The novel Autobiographie d'une Courgette (Gilles Paris, 2002) was adapted for the cinema by Claude Barras in 2016 in a serial animated film entitled Ma vie de Courgette. Through a cross-analysis of archival documents relating to the film's development, this article looks at the genesis of Ma vie de Courgette. It proposes to understand the motivations underlying the narrative and formal transformations that took place throughout the adaptation process, through the lens of the family film genre. The media transposition from novel to film was accompanied by a gradual shift in categorical identity - from the category of cultural object for (young) adults to that of cultural object for families - which contributed to configuring the visual and narrative content of Barras' film. The aim of this article is to show that the film's mode of address results from a constructed knowledge - based in particular on other productions in the animated feature film category - and subjective knowledge - determined by the background and references of the people involved in the film's development - of the expectations and tastes of the target audience.
