Résumé

Après avoir examiné et défini les fonctions traditionnelles et fondamentales d’une bibliothèque nationale, l’auteur expose ce qu’il entend par fonctions de concertation, soit ces fonctions nouvelles mais tout aussi essentielles que devront désormais assumer les bibliothèques nationales. Il mentionne entre autres, dans cette perspective, l’établissement d’un système national d’information (NATIS), la participation à un réseau de coopération internationale et la recherche en bibliothéconomie.

Abstract

The author analyzes and defines the basic traditional functions of a national library and develops his conception of what he calls the dialogue functions. From now on, national libraries will have to take on totally new but essential functions, such as the development of a national information system (NATIS), the involvement in an international cooperation network and research in library science.

El autor examina y define las funciones tradicionales y fundamentales de una biblioteca nacional y expone su concepción de lo que llama las funciones de concertación, que son nuevas pero esenciales para las bibliotecas nacionales. Cita, por ejemplo, el desarrollo de un sistema nacional de información (NATIS), la participación a un sistema de cooperación internacional y la investigación en biblioteconomia.
