Résumé

Cet article est une réflexion sur l’état actuel de la présence ou de l’absence des écrivains amérindiens et inuits au Québec à travers une mise en parallèle avec le contexte du Canada autochtone et plus largement du continent nord et sud-américain et de l’ailleurs fabuleux du monde. L’auteur présente cette réflexion de façon personnelle à travers sa propre expérience et son parcours d’artiste. Homme de théâtre et homme de paroles avant tout, il crée des spectacles où le texte est au service de la parole, de la voix. Culture orale oblige, le théâtre demeure toujours un artisanat, un archaïsme incontournable, une sorte de chamanisme qui tisse la rencontre et la confrontation nécessaire du je, du nous et du vous. Selon lui, il y a beaucoup de subterfuges et de mensonges qui consacrent la médiocrité de ce qui se fait pour et au nom des autochtones ou encore sur ceux-ci. En fait, n’y aurait-il pas une dépossession de la littérature, une mise à l’écart puisque certains privilégiés occupent tout le champ, tout le vacuum ? Toute écriture, tout texte sont-ils littérature ?

Abstract

This paper is a reflection on the actual presence or absence of native writers in Quebec, as seen through a parallel with the prevailing situation in Native Canada, on the larger American continent and elsewhere in the whole world. This reflection is presented in a personal manner through the author’s own experience and journey as an artist. A man of theatre and words, the author creates shows where the text serves the word and the voice. Because of the oral nature of culture, theatre always remains a sort of craft, an unavoidable archaism, a kind of shamanism that weaves the necessary meeting and confrontation between the Self, the Us and the Other. The author argues that there is a lot of subterfuges and lies that validate the mediocrity of what is done for and in the name of the Natives, or what is written about them. In fact, isn’t there a dispossession of the literature, a keeping out as few individuals occupy all the space, the entire vacuum? Is every form of writing, every text literature ?
