The growing range of risks and crises of the 21st century constitutes a real challenge for territories. The focus today is on the resilience capacities to be developed. These capacities oscillate in the literature between individual, organisational and territorial dimensions, without any real integrated approach linking them. This research studies the conceptual and practical articulation between territorial resilience and public finance. It explores the resilience strategies of 8 European cities and the way they articulate their strategic thinking on territorial and financial resilience. Despite non-homogeneous practices, our results reveal a relatively small articulation.

This article focuses on a little-known essay of an ethnographic, philosophical and literary nature, Le repas et l'amour chez les Mérinas (The dining and amorous customs of the Merinas), written by Jean Paulhan during a sojourn in Madagascar. I start by arguing that Paulhan's narrative, as singular and complex as it is, is particularly relevant from the perspective of a hermeneutical sociology because of its complex uniqueness. I then focus on specific textual elements of the narrative to identify possible vectors of interpretation. In a third and final section, I draw on Paulhan's work to advance some general propositions about an interpretive approach for the humanities, in which reflexive thinking plays an important role.

Epigenetics is a field of study that focuses on biochemical modifications and changes in the tridimensional (3D) structure of DNA that have the effect of constraining or facilitating the reading and expression of genes. Over the last ten years, epigenetics has captured the attention of several social scientists since it appears to confirm, this time at the molecular level, the determining role of the developing environment of people in configurating their biological individuality and programming their future health. This article discusses the potential epistemological implications of epigenetics. It distinguishes and describes three complementary socio-anthropological perspectives, taken by different authors, on the rapprochement of the concepts “nature” and “nurture” by epigenetics: the socialization of the biological, the biologization of the social, and the superimposition nature-nurture.

This article presents the results of a study aimed at constructing and validating a scale for measuring the professionalization of health sciences students. Evidence of the content, response process, and internal structure of the scale was provided throughout the study, including data collection from 561 undergraduate and graduate students from four Quebec universities. The results of an exploratory factor analysis indicated a very good internal consistency and support for a simple four-factor structure. Thus, a fourth factor (valuing the profession) was added to the three factors (professional skills, identity, and culture) set out in an initial conceptual framework. The results of a confirmatory factor analysis revealed that these four first-order factors were related to a single second-order factor of professionalization. This scale provides a robust instrument that can be used for studying the professionalization of students at different phases of their educational journey.

(Re)entering the workforce and maintaining employment is a major challenge for people undergoing medical treatment for an opioid use disorder. These people therefore often turn to financial assistance programs, which can be increased by 57% if a medical report documenting functional limitations results in a recognition of severe work disability. However, the evaluation of these limitations is a complex medical act, particularly for patients with drug or alcohol use disorders.
