The future development of the natural resources of the Canadian North definitely includes agriculture and agriculture in that area is not a novelty but a reality, as stated by Nowosad (1959). The importance of agriculture and its possible development in the Yukon Territory was discussed in the debate of the House of Commons by Nielson (1960). The soil survey in the Yukon, conducted by Day in 1957-58 reveals that the soil in general is low in organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus. The importance of tile adrenal cortex in influencing sodium and potassium metabolism is well established. The adrenal cortex secretes a number of steroid hormones which affect sodium and potassium excretion to varying degrees. The hormone which is the most potent in its sodium retaining effect is aldosterone. It promotes the sodium reabsorption for the exchange of potassium or hydrogen ion in the distal tubules of the kidney. An experimental study of supersonic combustion bas been performed using the McGill University pebble bed heated wind tunnel. Supersonic combustion was achieved in a stainless steel combustion tube and in a free jet issuing from the tube. Due to fuel mixing delay time, the combustion efficiency was very low. The total heat addition was limited to a small value by friction in the combustion tube. Computer programmes were written for the I.B.M. 650 digital computer to calculate test conditions and to compute Mach Number and total pressure profiles in the tube, with and without combustion. The signing of the Anglo-German Naval Agreement by Sir Samuel Hoare on June 18, 1935, after only ten days as foreign Secretary, was really an outcome of negotiations begun by his predecessor. Sir John Simon. Nevertheless, the agreement was sanctioned during the foreign Office of Hoare and therefore must be examined in some detail within the scope of this thesis. The agreement was signed at the conclusion of talks which began in London on June 4, 1935, under the chairmanship of Sir John Simon. Scopulariopsis brevicaulis (Saccardo) Bainier is a member of the Fungi Imperfecti. It is a mould which, like many species of Fungi Imperfecti, is widely distributed throughout the world. Of the many species in the genus Scopulariopsis, this organism has attracted the most attention. A review of the literature shows that it is important not only as a saprophyte but also as a parasite. This thesis represents an attempt to understand the mechanism of non-reflexive movements. Interest in the problem arose during the course of a study of the affects of thalamic damage on avoidance behavior in the rat. The results seemed to indicate that common-sense terms such as "voluntary," "volition," and "will" refer to a real function which is distinct from other higher nervous processes and which can be studied by experimental methods. The Oka anorthosite, lying thirty miles northwest of Montreal, was mapped with particular attention to the distribution of the anorthosite varieties present and the geological structure of these occurrences. It was found that the anorthosite varieties were irregularly distributed within the area, even within an individual outcrop. All the anorthosite was classified according to Buddington’s classification of anorthosites. Samples were collected upon which detailed petrographic studies were made. These studies included flat stage and universal stage work on the plagioclase, determination of the anorthite content of the plagioclase by means of immersion oils, and identification of the accessory minerals. A comparative study of arbitral decisions rendered in the United States, the Canadian Common Law Provinces and Quebec over grievances arising--in the context of collective agreements that contain no specific provision on the subject--out of Management's action of arranging with an outside firm to have it perform work hitherto done by members of the bargaining unit. The successive wave of hijacking of airplanes at gunpoint in 1961 made the press declare that the newest form of transportation had been struck by "air-age piracy''. The hijacking of airplanes is not new, however. The earliest cases had political implications as they involved the seizure of Czechoslovakian airplanes by refugees from communist-controlled countries who compelled the pilots to fly to the American zone of West Germany. The Purpose of this thesis is to present a comprehensive survey of Kant’s political theories, and to compare them with earlier thinkers to which they are related. It is used variously to refer to a specific compound (Figure 1) or to a general family of conjugated pterins and pteridines possessing folate biological activity. His classic work “Beitrage zur Entwicklungsgeschichte der Speicheldrüsen", has been supplemented by the studies of Bujard (1911), Schulte (1913), Carmait (1913) and especially Thoma (1919). The subjective judgment of pain is a perceptual task in which the outcome of the judgment bears a complex relationship to the measured intensity of the physical stimulus applied. “ln many cases knowledge of what is happening at the periphery is inadequate or unrelated to the prediction of the pain experience,” (Edwards, 1950). Human behaviour in the perceptual task of judging a stimulus to be painful or nonpainful (the threshold defining task) is in part independent of the intensity of the stimulus applied. Methods of pattern synthesis for the linear and curved array are examined and several new methods have been developed.Based on the stationary value characteristic the optimum pattern of the linear array with preassigned amplitude distribution and arbitrary space distribution is studied. The amplitude distribution of a curved array for aspecified pattern which can be approximated by a truncated Fourier series is obtained by solving a set of simultaneous linear equations. Very little work has been done with regard to the presence and distribution of coprophilous Pyrenomycetes in the Province of Quebec. So far only the Ungava Bay area and the Lake Mistassini area of the province have been surveyed by Cain(l957) concerning the presence offimicolous Ascomycetes. Barr(l961) in her study of the Pyrenomycetes of Gaspesian Park, Quebec recorded the presence of a few coprophilous species. No survey of the occurrence of coprophilous Pyrenomycetes has been done on the island of Montreal and vicinity.
