2004 — An exploratory analysis of Internet gambling among youth /Abstract
The Internet represents a relatively new phenomenon, offering players a convenient, easily accessible, and relatively anonymous gambling venue. This study explored Internet gambling in a sample of youth aged 12 to 24 years. Students in high school, CEGEP, and university were asked to report on their involvement in gambling activities both on-line and off-line. In the past 12 months, 4.6% of participants had gambled on the Internet, with higher rates among males (5.8%) compared to females (2.3%). As well, 36.6% of youth reported that in the past 12 months they had gambled on Internet 'practice' gambling sites where no money … Read more

1958 — The Stratigraphy and Palaeontology of the Beekmantown Group in the St. Lawrence Lowlands, Quebec.Abstract
In southern Quebec the Lower Ordovician or Beekmantown series consists of a thick sequence of dolomite beds with minor amounts of sandstone, limestone and shale. By comparison with Lower Ordovician strata elsewhere, the Beekmantown in southern Quebec is relatively unfossiliferous. As a result, interest in the group has been slight. This study is a dissertation on the stratigraphy and palaeontology of the Beekmantown group as exposed in the Quebec portion of the St. Lawrence Lowlands. Read more

2016 — Poetics of silence: Hongzhi Zhengjue (1091-1157) and the practice of poetry in Song Dynasty Chan YuluAbstract
Read more

2005 — The moon is not the moon : non-transcendence in the poetry of Han-shan and RyōkanAbstract
The Zen (Ch'an) poets Han-shan (circa 6th-9 thC.) and Ryokan (1758-1831) participate in literary activity, reclusion, and ordinary emotions in a manner that questions their typical image as models of transcendence. They participate in literary activity without attachment to either linguistic adequacy or a dualistic notion of "beyond words," and poetry serves as their mode of communication from reclusion. Reclusion is a context to realize the nature of the conventional world rather than a means of transcendence to an ultimate realm and is significant as a social and political act. Interpreted through the functional model of language, the poets' expressions … Read more

2017 — Characterization of a fourth «Schistosoma mansoni» glutamate-gated chloride channel subunitAbstract
Read more

1939 — The differentiation of salmonella pullorum by fermentation and agglutination reactions.Abstract
Although Salmonella pullorum has for many years been the subject of much investigation resulting in the accumulation or considerable knowledge of its various characteristics, there still exists some confusion regarding its exact recognition. This, and the fact that the genus Salmonella has undergone radical change through the newer methods of antigenic analysis stimulated particularly by White and Kauffmann, seemed to warrant a reinvestigation of the fermentation and agglutination reactions of Salmonella pullorum. As the historical resume will indicate, much of the work done on this organism has aimed at amplifying into species rank minute differences between this organism and the … Read more

2006 — Exploring the relationship between alexithymia and illness : individual differences in physiological reactivity and symptom reportingAbstract
Alexithymia is a personality construct characterized by a deficit in the cognitive processing and regulation of emotion. The well documented association of alexithymia with illness has prompted investigations into pathways that might explain this association, such as physiological mechanisms or increased illness behaviour. The first aim of the present research was to explore the hypothesis that alexithymia has the potential to lead to disease because of peculiarities in physiological reactivity to emotional stimuli. The second aim was to examine the influence of alexithymia on self-report of somatic symptoms associated with a controlled medical event, and to extend assessment of cardiovascular … Read more

1993 — Product liability of United States' aircraft and component manufacturersAbstract
The history of products liability law affecting aircraft manufacturers today is rooted in the early decisions of English courts and, in America, still remains largely judge-made law. The cost of the legal diversity of more than fifty jurisdictions has been devastating to the American general aviation industry. This segment of American industry is no longer competitive, largely due to the cost of product liability litigation, and major corporations have abandoned the effort. At this time, the United Kingdom is forging ahead with its European Economic Community partners to achieve uniform products liability laws. In America, manufacturers must design, select materials … Read more
