(Free) arbiter, colourist, stain-ist, material-ist, collagist, designer (of interiors), assembler-operator—not to mention cameraman-editor—N.B. is a visual artist in the current sense of the term used for all French artists, whether they work small or great miracles. Nico is not a post-documentarist photographer (as the manipulations and stagings intrinsic to his projects affirm). He does not extend the parameters established by photo-sculpture, but produces according to the specialties of a contractor: inlayer-tiler.

The Office, produced using digital photo-editing techniques, arises from the unreal. Ruud van Empel combines many of the avant-garde influences that have liberated photography from its obligation to the truth through the invention of montage. At the same time that these avant-gardes and ideas about progress were developing, the office became widespread as a space of production of the impalpable. These offices reflect the inferiority and solitude of their inhabitants, defined by eclectic collections of objects.

Je me suis intéressé à l’agencement matériel de la photographie documentaire et de l’esthétique visuelle de la publicité d’intérêt public, et à la façon dont l’une et l’autre se rejoignent dans des configurations de l’espace urbain pour interposer une dialectique des apparences entre les dimensions publique et privée de l’expérience. En étudiant la relation spéculaire, c'est-à-dire la relation entre le regard et la vision en tant que principe et condition de la présence sociale, j’ai tenté de comprendre comment la mémoire et le désir prennent naissance dans l’action de l’homme pour révéler la genèse des valeurs sociales.
